Magic in the Forest - Knits for Premature Babies
In a room off New Forest for Ukraine’s new warehouse, a small miracle is under way.
Sarah bends down, carefully packing colourful boxes.
Bootees, caps and gloves. Even a smiling octopus. All going off to keep premature babies warm and happy, over Ukraine’s coming winter.
“The knitting come from across the New Forest, all over Britain, and even from America and Australia,” says Sarah, with a warm smile. “The octopus gives the babies something to grip,” she explains.
These are the latest gifts for new mums, who need them so badly. They come with other essentials for their new babies: wipes, nappies and sanitary items.
IEvery 20 days New Forest for Ukraine sends off 3 huge, reinforced cardboard boxes full of baby items along with 49 other pallets of aid.
Each is put on a pallet and wrapped by volunteers, like Martin. The wrapping is vital to ensure they arrive safely; in the condition they left the warehouse.
One more act of love, for the people of Ukraine.
